SUPER SATURDAY NIGHT CRUISES IN SANFORD, FLORIDA It all began over 24 years ago when a group of guys got together with their old cars and trucks and a radio hooked up to speakers and decided to start a car cruise. Herb Partridge, Bobbie Kennedy, Ervin Schreiber, Bud Rogers and Dave Scott all from Sanford enjoyed the idea of a Saturday Night Cruise that they wanted to do it every Saturday night.........well, one thing led to another and before they knew it, crowds from all over Central Florida were coming to their Super Saturday Night Cruise in the WalMart Plaza. It grew and grew and grew, over 300 vehicles would show up each week. Finally they decided to have the cruise the last Saturday of each month with the exception of November and December and that is how it stands to this day. We are now located down on the RiverWalk in Sanford by the Marina on Seminole Blvd. We have a DJ "Jerry"who plays all the old tunes from the 50's-70's each month, we do a 50/50 cash drawing along with a 3 hour lunch cruise for 2 on the Rivership Romance that docks right at the Marina. We give out cruiser tickets for door prizes and usually have hand outs for everyone. We are the oldest car club in Central Florida who has been doing monthly car cruises and now you can pick up a copy of Mike Kelly's Cruise News and you will find a cruise just about every night of the week.

We have a cap of 60 members and now have a few openings available. However, there are a few stipulations: You will be on a probation membership for one year and must attend at least 4 out of 12 monthly meetings, help with at least 4 monthly car cruises out of 10 and help with our annual car show in November. After you have met the requirements then you will be voted in the following January for permanent membership. Our dues are $12.00 a year per person. January 2010 is the start date for new applications, if you are interested, give David Scott a call and an application will be mailed to you.. Let's hope the weather will be in our favor this month and we will have our monthly car cruise down on the Riverwalk in Sanford by the water. Come down early if you want to park on Seminole Blvd. The overflow will park in the courthouse parking lot. We will have Joe and his hot hogs and burgers and Jerry playing the old tunes from years gone by. |
